My Thoughts on AGNEEPATH (2012)…

****Spoilers****

(Read only if you are the one who have watched the movie or you are the one who don’t mind if someone spoils your party. :D  )

If say, somehow I did not happen to know that this AGNEEPATH movie is actually a remake of old movie of 1980s, I would have guessed it perfectly right after the end of climax fight sequence. Such are the scenes in this movie that follow exact same path of old 1980s movies.

Movie starts in a village ‘Mandawa’ showing Vijay’s (Hrithik Roshan) childhood life and his relation with his father and how main villain Kaancha (Sanjay Dutt) murders his father. This part is actually well executed and builds the platform for revenge perfectly.

Then movie follows the regular path of how Vijay creates his presence in Mumbai mafia world with the help of Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor), who is apparently the arch enemy of Kaancha, and rise to the power with the only motive of seeking revenge against Kaancha. And blah blah blah….

Now fighting sequences, especially in a climax one, are the main reasons why I said that I would have guessed the movie is a remake of old 1980’s movie. I mean, in the climax, Vijay singlehandedly destroys all outposts in village of Mandawa (the fortress of Kaancha) by means of dozens of explosions that too, caused almost simultaneously. And then comes the confrontation with Kaancha where Kaancha beats vijay right to left and up to down and stabs him with big knife for so many times that I actually forgot the count. And now after all this slaughter (which, by the way, would have been enough to kill a big bull in a real world.) Vijay rose to his feet and actually manages to lift Kaancha over his head.(Kaancha who is, mind you, no lesser than a big bull himself.) and finally manages to kill him. So these were the enough evidences for me to be able to deduct the fact that movie is a remake of old movie of 1980’s.

However, overall Film is not at all bad and actually quite enjoyable, though only in patches. (Especially the entry scenes of Kaancha and Vijay when public in a theater, where I saw the film, went berserk.) And you will enjoy it more if you are a fan of Extreme bloodshed or extreme emotions.

Performances of leads are excellent to say the least. Hrithik has acted his heart out. Sanjay Dutt as Kaancha is just too fabulous and quite natural. Since I have not seen the original Agneepath, I cannot imagine someone else doing Kaancha other than Sanjay. Rishi Kapoor is also very good as Rauff Lala. Priyanka chopra has done a decent job as well. Chikany Chameli Katrina was just enough to make public go berserk with all Whistles and Tallis again and again.

So my final thoughts are like this- Film is definitely a one-time watch at least for the performances of the lead actors and adrenaline filled background music of Ajay-Atul. Movie is sure shot bumper opener and most probably a weekend record breaker. But I suspect tough time ahead of weekend due to the lack of family audience’s support. Though, I would be more happy if proved wrong.

The Legend Of THE WALL

This day I would never forget. Rahul Dravid is going to retire is what I was hearing, reading, seeing since yesterday. But I did not want to believe it. My mind was saying ‘yes! This is probably right’ but my heart just could not bear the possibility of not having Dravid around playing, fighting, winning and saving test matches for India. So I was eagerly waiting for today’s press conference, hoping against hope that this conference might be for some different reasons (though my brain couldn’t think of any). But that was not to be the case and Dravid indeed announced his retirement today. Retirement of Rahul Dravid has left a big, very big void in, not only team india but also in every cricket lovers life. I started following Cricket since 1996. And it is no surprise that Dravid made his debut in that year. I still remember that day, I, 7 years old then, watching a live match with all my friends on TV. The match was India Vs Pakistan at Sharjah. That day I first saw

My Thoughts On a Book 'Immortals Of Meluha'

As a big fan of fiction books, it was my wish to read a fantasy fiction book written by an Indian author. But, for many years that wish of mine remained unrealized and unfulfilled. However, few months back out of the blue, I happened to came across a book named ‘Immortals of Meluha’. And oh dear! What a book written by author named Amish Tripathi. The Immortals of Meluha   is the first novel of the   Shiva   trilogy series by   Amish Tripathi. The story takes place in the imaginary land of   Meluha   and how they are saved from their wars by a nomad named Shiva.   It begins with the Meluhan king   Daksha   inviting tribes to stay at his country, one of them being Shiva's tribe. They soon come to recognize Shiva as their fabled savior called Neelkanth , after he devours Somras, a legendary healing potion, which turns his throat blue. Shiva decides to help the Meluhans in their war against the   Chandravanshis , who had joined forces with a cursed group called   Nagas . Howe

My Thoughts on India Vs Australia Series

You know there are many reasons for a cricket fan in you to get excited this summer when two legendary nations are gonna face each other. When India take on Australia, there is always sparkling anticipations in the minds of fans from both sides. India Vs Australia rivalry started way back in 1947/48. Since then India has played 9 series down under, of which 6 resulted into defeats while 3 were draw. Last series in 2008/09 was more remembered for 'off'field battles than 'on'field battles. But still that series produced some fantastic cricketing contest nonetheless. In fact India's Win over Australia in Perth, which was a Fortress for Australian team for last two decades, actually started Legendary Australian Team's spectacular downfall. After 3 years since that last tour, both teams find their situation reversed(sort of). While today's Australian team is going through a rebuilding phase, India on other hand are preparing for well deserved send off to thei
